Payment, terms and conditions

  • Orders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Every reasonable effort has been made to describe the items accurately. Accordingly, returns will not be accepted for minor discrepancies between item and description.
  • On receipt of an order, confirmation will be sent by E-mail stating the total cost (including postage and packing).
  • VAT (TVA) is not payable and has not been added to cost of any item.
  • Postage costs are based purely on weight of item(s) and will be added to the cost of the item(s) together with a small packing charge. Surface mail postage cost will be used unless you request other methods of sending the item(s).
  • When you confirm by E-mail that you wish to buy the item(s), it/they will be reserved until payment is received for up to 14 days (this will be extended for foreign customers).
  • Due to high bank charges, we regret that payment can only be accepted in Pounds sterling (£).
  • Cash should only be sent in notes and by registered post or recorded delivery for your own security.
  • Cheques, postal orders or bankers drafts are to be made payable to D. SWEETMAN.
  • Items ordered will be despatched as soon as cash is received or cheques / money orders cleared or funds electronically credited to our account. Confirmation of payment arrival / clearance will be sent by E-mail.
  • Item(s) will be normally sent in one parcel to minimise postage costs.
  • Delivery to customer's address will be regarded as delivery to customer.
  • Title of item(s) remains with Black Cat Books until full payment has been received and cleared. Any disputes will be settled under English law.
  • Please allow up to 28 days for delivery within the UK or longer for overseas.
  • Any item found incorrectly described may be returned within 7 days of receipt for a full refund of price, postage and packing.


  • The catalogue is dated and accurate at the date of issuing. If you wish, an E-mail can be sent to you informing you of new issues (catalogues are only available on-line).


  • Black Cat Books accepts no liability for damage, injury or death resulting from use of any information supplied. It is YOUR responsibility to satisfy legal and safety requirements where necessary.

  • Black Cat Books accepts no liability for computer crashes, malfunctions or any consequential problems caused by usage of this web site.
